These are self-contained modular units that include
primary protection cubicle consisting of
switch and fuse assemblies, space for metering equipment, a transformer
section, and secondary protection which may include a main circuit breaker/main distribution
panel. Custom cubicles to accommodate additional equipment such as automatic
switches can easily be integrated in the
design of the transclosure.
residential applications, the pole-mounted substation includes lightning arresters,
isolators, fuses and a step-down transformer.
Portable substations can be designed to be either skid mounted or trailer
mounted. The advantage
of the mobile design is that
they can be integrated into existing substations
to take the place
the aged switchgear or transformers and support the rest of the substation for a period of
time. Alternatively, they can be installed in developing areas where a fixed substation is to be
built, and the portable substation can be moved later to another developing area.
